Before You Apply

Who is this program for? Who should apply?

Writers, artists, scientists, and civic leaders are all encouraged to apply. People who want to further their craft, learn new skills, and develop a community-on-the-fly around the local & universal issues of our time. You do not need to be a “professional” to join us. In fact, it’s much better if you’re able to embrace “beginners’ mind” and arrive ready to take in new ideas and experiences, shear your experience as a peer & equal within a diverse group, regardless of where you are in your career or life.

Participants do need to meet the following requirements and agreements:

-be a self-sufficient and independent traveler, able to look after their own needs and express them clearly

-be self-motivated with an innate sense of curiosity and exploration. The nature of our programs puts every participant in the driver’s seat of co-creating their experience - we provide a framework and minimal facilitation, and access to incredible environments and facilities in which to operate. The rest depends on you.

-come ready for a full, sometimes challenging experience. This is not a vacation, but a shared experience, where stepping away from your familiar places and routines, and into deep nature, allows your creative energy to flow and develop. Our programs aim to tackle large, complex, and emotionally charged issues.

-agree to share the work created during the program freely for publication and dissemination, facilitated by Journeywright.

-enjoy collaboration with other thinkers, explorers, and fellow humans. We don’t believe in silos; our founding belief is a need to invest in infrastructure to bridge the gaps between scientists, their data and observations, and the public at large.

-agree to participate in two 1-hour pre-departure group sessions, conducted over Zoom in late March and mid-April 2022.

At Journeywright, we acknowledge that the solutions and thinking that we need to address the global issues facing us will not come from individuals, but from the collective, and therefore seek to create a fertile environment for individuals to come together and flash-build communities of exchange together.
